Before stepping out on faith to begin his God-given assignment, Pastor D.L. Washington was under the leadership of his father, the late Pastor Calvin Ray Washington, at True Gospel Missionary Baptist Church. After being called to Pastor, he and his wife, Co-Pastor Tamalar Washington, partnered with God to start TVWC and built it from the ground up.
TVWC began at 115 S Beckley in Oak Cliff, TX. We began with about 15 members including family. These members were the choir, the praise team, and every other auxiliary you could think of! The faithful few came and praised God consistently; and with every passing week, True Vision was growing.
After about 7 years, God saw fit to expand True Vision Worship Center to approximately 300 members. The church gained a full choir, a full praise team, full ministerial staff, and an abundance of loving, joyful saints. TVWC was, and still is, pumping strong and producing more and more workers for God's kingdom.
After about 10 years, TVWC had grown even more and God got the glory every step of the way.

In 2019, TVWC was faced with a huge test of faith. Our home, "Beckley", was being sold, which meant the church had to move out of the building. People couldn't help but be devastated and question the fate of True Vision Worship Center.
During this transitional period, we lost not only our sanctuary, but finances, and even members. We bounced to a couple of different places, searching for a building to call our new home. The church seemed to be coming to an end. We had become unstable and it felt like people were jumping ship before the final crumble. The pressure was tangible, and faith grew weary. Our leaders were fighting for the church with everything they had, but the struggle got heavier and heavier.
At this point, many would have fallen. Many would have taken their hands off the plow. A lot of people would have concluded that this was a "sign" to stop, and that life would be easier without all of this stress...
but when God ordains a ministry... it cannot fail...
After moving from a recreation center, to a watch shop, to a local doctor's office, we found our place! God provided us with a storefront sanctuary right in the heart of DeSoto, TX. At this location, True Vision Worship Center began REBUILDING!! (Don't call it a Comeback!) Slowly but surely, things were falling back into place. God did it again.
The year is now 2020... and Covid-19 has entered the chat. Covid-19 encouraged all of us around the world to "stay at da crib" and not return to social settings, including the church. But throughout this entire pandemic, our leaders, Pastor D.L. Washington and Co-Pastor Tamalar Washington, kept TVWC open and running while following CDC guidelines. TVWC was LIVE every Sunday and Thursday, and maintained a prayer line on Wednesdays. Our church is still alive today because of the diligence God instilled in our leaders and the resilience in our members!
Today, TVWC is back running strong and continuously growing with time! We are open to all and "Whosoever will, LET THEM COME!"
We've been tested in the fire multiple times, but we remained a family through and through. Everything we retained and regained, we owe it all to God! Each challenge and test strengthens the family, and as our Pastor would say, " A Family that Prays Together, Stays Together." <3
